Computer hardware problem?

Can a hard disk damage be so severe that it prevents the computer from starting up? 2. I'm taking that damage was due to voltage fluctuations. But the fluctuation was generally decrease in voltage. I don't think that the computer ever turned off because the voltage shot up. So could it have been damaged due to this decrease in voltage? If yes then which parts could have got damaged?

Can I use multiple graphics hardware?
I want to connect a third monitor to my PC as i have two right now , and have three ports on the back of my PC, however two of them are two my GeForce 8500 GT, and one of them is on the graphic chip set of my motherboard. I would like to know if it is possible to work these two pieces of hardware in tandem so that I can use all three of my monitors at once extending the three displays, to make one.

Which parts of a computer hardware can get damaged because of improper shutdowns?
For the last few weeks, my computer, mainly owing to voltage fluctuations, had been shutting down. It used to happen for about ten times everyday. And now it has got damaged. It just won't start up. So which parts do u think could've got damaged? I have a graphics cardFor the last few days, it used to shut down whenever i used to play any high requirement game

Do I have a hardware or software problem?
I have a laptop with a core i5 450m and NVIDIA GeForce GT330M switchable cuda graphics. I have noticed a problem though with the switchable graphics feature...First off, I have had NO problems with the NVIDIA graphics...i have tried to make this happen but it won't with the NVIDIA graphicshowever...when i have the intel graphics on to save battery , when i unplug the laptops power cable the screen has horizontal bars flickering and doesn't stop until i refresh the screen power difference i guess because the screen dims as it should to save battery life . This happens if i unplug it from the wall too, not just the laptop Also, a sudden change in color my black background to a new white word document sometimes causes this to happen until i click on something or refresh the page. only once though Why? Yes, i have updated all graphic drivers. Yes, Windows 7 is updated Whats wrong with the intel HD graphics?Please help Do i have a hardware or software problem.I have an acer spire 5745g 3690

How can I check hardware details from DOS on no OS installed laptop?
I'm planning to buy a laptop and I've seen one good laptop at unbelievable price. So i want check if all the hardware it is telling are there or not. And the main problem is there is no OS installed. Now can any one help me How to check hardware details in DOS.Actually it is HP dv7. It is configurable laptop.. Thats why i want to check..

Why does 1 year mean 11 months in terms of an electronic hardware item ?
similarly 3 years warranty of any electronic hardware like mobo,hdd,flash drive,processor would mean 33 months warranty only. This is the same case all over India.....I don't know how it is in other countries. Some items like RAM also have a sticker saying " lifetime warranty" but it would only mean 5 years warranty of that item. I don't understand why are there such fake warranty terms out there.

How to change hardware acceleration settings on windows7?
I am having a little problem trying to change the settings for my hardware acceleration. When i get to the advanced settings and go to troubleshoot the change settings option is greyed out and above it says, 'f your current display driver allows you to change settings, click this buttons to troubleshoot poblems with your computers display', yet the option is greyed out. Is this a software or hardware problem?
My Dell is not working. I get a message that files are corrupted or missing and tells me to insert the original disk that came with the computer OS, I guess My cousin looked at it today and said the computer is not reading the disk when inserted and says it's a hardware problem for which I have an extended warranty Dell wants to charge me another $229 to correct the software. What do you think?

Hard drive onboard hardware?
Ive got a 750GB 7200 Seagate Barricuda HDD with faulty electronics, and I need to switch the board out. I can do that, but here is the problem, the one that I have is an IDE. Seagate no longer produces the IDE version of it. I can find one online for around $200 $300, or I can find one of the same model exactly everything the same except that it is an SATA drive for $60 tigerdirect.com applications searchtools item details.asp?EdpNo 4813792 .If I switch components with this one, will they be compatible? If so it would actually be somewhat beneficial to me to have this drive in the form of SATA so that I could use it as an internal drive nobody prints motherboards with IDE anymore C btw I work at a decent computer repair shop, I need the data out of it, pci controllers will screw over your computer for all of eternity, switching over a board is not that tough to do and i'm not that worried about warranties since as soon as the board is off of the new drive it's just going on a spare parts shelf.

Is it possible 2 learn computer hardware maintenance from a book/video?

How are Hp and Sony in terms of reliability and hardware quality? Please look at details...?
I'm planning to get either a Sony Vaio or an HP laptop i5 430M core 2.26ghz, 500gb hard drive, 4gb ram , which is priced around 800 900$. It is a lot of money for me but I'm willing to spend it if the laptop will likely last me 4 years. I don't want the motherboard or hard drive to be fried. I don't want the screen to be messed up or go blank after a year. I've heard people with some of these complaints. Please help me decide which to get. I haven't used laptops from either company so I don't know which is more reliable.
